A Dutch financial institution offering banking and insurance services with its varied ICT environments. The organization is used to in-house solutions to carry out ICT activities. Earlier attempt to outsourcing and off-shoring were unsuccessful and were discontinued after 6 months.
A request to function as the Programme Manager for Outsourcing India. A strategic programme to set up an offshore IT team in India, expand technical resources and manage the change.
Stakeholders: ICT Management, Department managers and Suppliers.
Prepare business plan and business case. Get approval from top management. Start RFI/RFP process. Short-list and selection of supplier. Set up offshore operation for: Java, .NET and Cobol development; application and database management services; and Infrastructure management services. Manage and expand the operation for the initial period of one year.
An offshore unit in operation with a team of 30 resources. Yearly cost savings of €2 millions.
