Implementation of SEPA directives imposed by European Union

A Dutch financial institution offering banking and insurance services with its varied ICT environments. European Union introduced a payment-integration initiative for simplification of Euro bank transfers.

Assignment

Programme Manager: SEPA (Single European Payments Area) Implementation as per standards, procedures and infrastructure defined by European Union.

Stakeholders: Bank’s management, Director IT development, DNB.

Solution

Implementation of SEPA directives, Credit Transfers and Direct Debit, in the Bank’s supply chains by incorporating required SEPA functionalities in the core banking systems and front-end applications. Insist on use of SCRUM method for development projects. Define and change processes related to SEPA and implement them in the operational organization.

Results

SEPA directives were implemented in-time before the deadlines set by European Union. It enabled customers to make cashless euro payments to anyone located anywhere in the area, using a single bank account and a single set of payment instruments.
